What's the difference between the GMAT Classroom Course and the GMAT Anywhere Course?
The only difference between our conventional courses and the Anywhere course is that with Anywhere classes, you do not physically sit in a classroom. Instead you access your class online from wherever you are, and you interact with your teacher and fellow students with chat, audio and video as you move through the lessons. Everything else is the same, including the same expert instructors, course materials, and GMAT methods and strategies.
Do I need to download any software to join the virtual classroom?
No, all you need is an internet browser with an up-to-date version of Flash. Flash is already installed on 97% of internet browsers. You may need to add a small audio plugin when you join class forthe very first time, but that's it!
What will I see on my screen during a GMAT lesson?
You will see a variety of items throughout the lesson, including presentation slides, sample questions, a Q&A box, chat, online polls, webcam of your teacher, and an onscreen whiteboard which the instructor will write on just like in a physical classroom.
Will I have to dial into a conference call to hear the audio? Will this cost me money?
No—the system uses VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology which integrates audio into the classroom environment, allowing you to communicate without using a telephone line. It is very like using a system such as Skype™. This is completely free and incurs no phone bills.
Do I need a broadband connection for this course?
We recommend that you use a high-speed internet connection to avoid any delays when in class sessions. If you have a dial-up or unreliable connection, you may prefer to take Kaplan’s GMAT On Demand Course, which contains self-paced lessons, and so does not require you to follow live online sessions.
Do I get books and materials with GMAT Anywhere?
Yes, you will get a full kit of study materials which are identical to those used by GMAT Classroom Course students. See the Course Materials box above for a full list. We will ship this directly to you.
What should I have ready for my first course session?
Your first class will consist of an orientation session that includes an introduction to your course resources and technology, plus an overview of the GMAT exam. You will need to take your Diagnostic Test online before Session 1 of your course, so please plan to set aside about 3 hours to in order to complete that test. The Diagnostic Test is accessible from your online course syllabus for you to complete in your own time. For every class, please have ready a headset, GMAT Course Book, and any materials you want for taking notes.
What do I do if I cannot make a class?
All Kaplan GMAT classes are available as pre-recorded Lessons-on-Demand™ from your Kaplan GMAT online syllabus.
