GMAT Anywhere FAQs

What's the difference between the GMAT Classroom Course and the GMAT Anywhere Course?
The only difference between our conventional courses and the Anywhere course is that with Anywhere classes, you do not physically sit in a classroom. Instead you access your class online from wherever you are, and you interact with your teacher and fellow students with chat, audio and video as you move through the lessons. Everything else is the same, including the same expert instructors, course materials, and GMAT methods and strategies.

Do I need to download any software to join the virtual classroom?
No, all you need is an internet browser with an up-to-date version of Flash. Flash is already installed on 97% of internet browsers. You may need to add a small audio plugin when you join class forthe very first time, but that's it!

What will I see on my screen during a GMAT lesson?
You will see a variety of items throughout the lesson, including presentation slides, sample questions, a Q&A box, chat, online polls, webcam of your teacher, and an onscreen whiteboard which the instructor will write on just like in a physical classroom.

Will I have to dial into a conference call to hear the audio? Will this cost me money?
No—the system uses VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology which integrates audio into the classroom environment, allowing you to communicate without using a telephone line. It is very like using a system such as Skype™. This is completely free and incurs no phone bills.

Do I need a broadband connection for this course?
We recommend that you use a high-speed internet connection to avoid any delays when in class sessions. If you have a dial-up or unreliable connection, you may prefer to take Kaplan’s GMAT On Demand Course, which contains self-paced lessons, and so does not require you to follow live online sessions.

Do I get books and materials with GMAT Anywhere?
Yes, you will get a full kit of study materials which are identical to those used by GMAT Classroom Course students. See the Course Materials box above for a full list. We will ship this directly to you.

What should I have ready for my first course session?
Your first class will consist of an orientation session that includes an introduction to your course resources and technology, plus an overview of the GMAT exam. You will need to take your Diagnostic Test online before Session 1 of your course, so please plan to set aside about 3 hours to in order to complete that test. The Diagnostic Test is accessible from your online course syllabus for you to complete in your own time. For every class, please have ready a headset, GMAT Course Book, and any materials you want for taking notes.

What do I do if I cannot make a class?
All Kaplan GMAT classes are available as pre-recorded Lessons-on-Demand™ from your Kaplan GMAT online syllabus.

Who can answer my academic questions about my course?
To contact Kaplan's Academic Support Department, please login to your Kaplan GMAT online resources. On your syllabus, look for the "Getting Started" section, and click the "Academic Support" link to submit your questions. You can also submit academic questions directly to your instructor by email throughout your 3-month enrollment period.

How can I find my Kaplan GMAT online resources username and password?
You will have received a welcome email from customer.care@kaplan.com with your Kaptest username and password. If you have not received this, please email us at kaptest.europe@kaplan.com. Please also be sure to check your junk mail folder in case the email has been accidentally routed into there.

How can I find my username and password for the Anywhere Classroom?
You will have received an email with your Live Online classroom login information. Please note that this is different from your Kaptest welcome email. If you cannot find that, please email us at kaptest.europe@kaplan.com or call us on +44 (0)20 7930 3130.

Test Overview

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a standardized test used by business school admissions officers to measure academic ability. In fact, data has shown that GMAT scores are consistently good, though imperfect, predictors of academic success in the first year of business school.

The exam measures general verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills. It does not test business competence nor specific subject knowledge.

The test features both verbal and math multiple-choice sections, along with two 30-minute essay topics. The GMAT is given as a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) in most parts of the world.

A high score on the GMAT will increase the likelihood of getting into the business school program of your choice. More than 250,000 people (roughly 90,000 international test takers and 150,000 U.S. test takers) take the GMAT each year, so it is important for you to do well and stand out from the other candidates.
