Course Features

Attend the Math Refresher Course in our liveonline virtual classroom. The course consists of a total of four sessions. The first three 2.5-hour lessons include targeted math instruction with an expert Kaplan teacher covering Arithmetic, Algebra, and Geometry. The fourth session is a 2.5 hour Math Review lesson. The course also includes 45 days’ access to the Online Center containing Lessons-on-Demand, online workshops, quizzes, and 400+ practice questions.

Course Materials

The Math Refresher Anywhere Course comes with a Math Refresher course book and Getting Started Guide as well as online access with Lessons-on-Demand, online workshops, quizzes, and 400+ practice questions.

Test Overview

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test is designed to provide graduate schools with common measures for comparing the qualifications of applicants. The exam measures verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing skills, and does not test specific subject knowledge. If you wish to go on to graduate (post-graduate) study in the US, then you will be required to take the GRE.

Test Format

Verbal Section

Time: 30 minutes
Format: 30 questions
Topics Tested: Reading, Analytical Reasoning, Vocabulary
Question Types: Sentence Completions, Analogies, Reading Comprehension, Antonyms

Quantitative Section

Time: 45 minutes
Format: 28 questions
Topics Tested: Basic Math, Mathematical Concepts, Quantitative Reasoning
Question Types: Problem Solving, Quantitative Comparisons

Writing Assessment

Time: 75 minutes
Format: One 45-minute essay, One 30-minute essay
Topics Tested: Analysis of an Argument, Analysis of an Issue

Test Scores

On the GRE, each of the three sections is scored separately. You will receive a "scaled score" within a range of 200-800 for both the verbal and quantitative sections. You will also receive a score on a scale of 0 to 6 for the writing section.

In addition to scaled scores, you will receive a percentile rank. This calculation places your performance relative to those of a large sample population of other GRE takers. For example, if you scored in the 60th percentile, it means that you scored higher than 60% of GRE test-takers.

Register for the Test

The GRE is a computerized test, so you can take the test throughout the year.

The most convenient way to find a testing center and register for the GRE is online at www.gre.org. This is the website of the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

The cost to take the exam in the US is currently US$140. The fee to take the exam outside the US is US$170. ETS takes most major credit cards.
